After Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan, Rani Mukerji does a lavani number

Mumbai: After Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan, it's Rani Mukerji's turn to do a lavani item number. She has done it in 'Aiyya' and the song has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant.

"Rani does three item numbers in her dream in 'Aiyya'. In this film, the girl has this habit of dreaming. One of her item numbers is a lavani song, again in her dream," Sachin Kundalkar, director of the film, told IANS.

"She was quite good with her lavani dance. She shared a great equation with Vaibhavi Merchant. She did rehearsals on the sets. So it's a rapid, classical, sensuous lavani song," he added.

Co-produced by Anurag Kashyap and Viacom 18, the movie is said to be about a woman who finds a man desirable because he smells good. Rani plays a Marathi girl in the movie and is paired opposite southern star Prithvi Raj.

Salman Khan to throw a surprise birthday bash for Katrina Kaif?

Mumbai: Bollywood hottie Katrina Kaif, who turned 28 today, will not have much time at her disposal to celebrate her birthday.
Now, the most sought after actresses in town, Katrina is busy working on her birthday.

Talking to DNA, the beauty said, “There are no plans as such this year and it will be a quiet birthday. There are too many professional commitments I need to fulfill, so I will be working today.”

However, a source close to her said that her former beau Salman Khan might end up throwing a surprise bash for her. And if he does so, then only close friends will be a part of it.

“It’s likely that they with their set of friends and family will have a get together over dinner much later in the night, probably in Bandra like in the past,” the source said referring to Salman and Katrina.

Nonetheless, here’s wishing Katrina Kaif a very happy birthday!

A working birthday for Katrina Kaif

Actress Katrina Kaif, who has been on a non-stop working spree all year through, seems to have the perfect excuse today to take a break and celebrate.

After all, it’s the Bollywood actress’ birthday today, and with her topping several polls recently – from being voted kiddie fave to being announced as the world’s sexiest woman — she has much to celebrate.

The actress, who’s on a roll, is also working with the Khan troika — Salman in Ek Tha Tiger, Aamir in Dhoom 3 and Shah Rukh Khan in Yash Chopra’s film. But ask about her plans for the day and Katrina reveals that a break is the last thing on her mind today. “There are no plans as such this year and it will be a quiet birthday. There are too many professional commitments I need to fulfill, so I will be working today,” says Katrina.

A close friend of the actor adds that she has been shooting for 18 hours a day since the past few months. “In fact, she has not made any change in her schedules to accommodate her birthday either. So it will be a working birthday for Katrina,” says the close friend.

“Katrina prefers to have quiet birthdays, though they turn out to be anything but that. Her friends insist that she should take it easy and take a break at least on her birthday,” adds the friend.

To top it all, the actor’s house is at present under renovation, so she’s not even having friends over for any birthday celebration. Talking about her plans for the day, another insider reveals that she has a choc-a-bloc day ahead. “She is dubbing for Ek Tha Tiger, followed by rehearsals for a song in the Yash Chopra film. That apart, she is also training for Dhoom 3, for which she leaves for Chicago sometime, next week,” reveals the source.

As for her friends, specifically good friend Salman planning a surpise bash for the actor like he is known to do almost every year, the insider reveals that nothing is on the cards as yet.And if it’s a surprise then Salman will make sure that it remains a surprise right till the end. “But it’s likely that they with their set of friends and family will have a get together over dinner much later in the night, probably in Bandra like in the past,” adds the source.

There’s also buzz about actor Ranbir Kapoor being invited to this bash, though the actor’s close friends prefer to remain mum.

Katrina Kaif to renovate her house

Ushering in her 28th birthday today, with a slew of big projects on the anvil, Katrina Kaif may be spoilt for choice when it comes to her professional life, but the city's harsh realty scene has left her strapped of options when it comes to a new home. A reason why, she is giving her Bandra apartment a makeover.

In June last year, we reported about Katrina's house hunt. With her top floor flat in Guldev Sagar on Waterfield Road, Bandra, suffering from serious seepage problem during the monsoon, she had said she wanted a new place, preferably before the rains this year.

It's been almost a year now, and Katrina has given up her search. In fact, we found out quite accidentally that she is redoing her top floor flat when we spotted a series of vans off loading tiles, marble, granite and other such building material at her 3-BHK apartment for the past few days.

Katrina confirmed the news saying, "I am renovating my house. That involves almost everything - the floor, upholstery, curtains, wall paint, almost everything." She revealed she has entrusted the job to one Soni Tanna, a professional interior designer and a family friend, whom she knows since the last six years.

And unlike most other actors who shift to five-star hotels in the neighbourhood during such times, Katrina has no such immediate plans. She will continue to stay in Guldev Sagar, where work gains momentum later this week. "The water leakage problem which I faced over the years has been solved. The apartment has been water-proofed," she said.

Interestingly, Katrina had earlier told a section of the media that she always wanted a sea-facing house. "It's been one of my dreams to own a flat overlooking the sea. I want something a bit more secluded and private," she had famously said at the time. And we hear she did check out quite a few flats in the past 18 months or so, mostly in Bandra at Carter Road and in the Pali Hill area, and even some plots in Juhu Scheme where she was planning to build a bungalow.

So what made her change her mind? "No new house for now, at least for sometime," she replied. However, TOI has it, the real reason she abandoned her house-hunting spree is that, the flats she saw in Bandra did not meet her expectations. And as far as the Juhu bungalow is concerned, she dropped the idea as that neighbourhood has been plagued with water problems for the last eight months.

Besides, there is also the paucity of time. Said Katrina, "I have still to shoot for Yashji's film. Then I start with Dhoom 3. I cannot devote any more time to shortlisting homes."

All we can say is that with some rather eventful birthdays in the past few years, it remains to be seen what this one holds. "I haven't decided what I'll do but I'll go out somewhere for sure," Katrina said, clearly not in a mood to reveal her plans for her special day.

In the promos of their upcoming film Ek Tha Tiger, Katrina is shown telling 'Dabangg' Khan that it is high time he gets married.

Even Aamir Khan had yesterday said he has been telling Salman to get married soon but he does not listen to anybody.

To this Salman said, "Aamir is after me for this. I don't understand why everyone is after my marriage. Is there any benefit in me getting married?"

When film's director Kabir Khan was asked if this was deliberate attempt to have the dialogue in Ek Tha Tiger, he said, "No, we have not done this deliberately."

"Since I have Katrina and Salman in the movie I couldn't resist but have this..," he said, on a lighter note.

Katrina sacrifices family time for `Ek Tha Tiger`

New Delhi: It seems Katrina Kaif doesn`t like to compromise when it comes to her professional life. The actress cut short her family vacation to be at the launch of the first song of her upcoming film `Ek Tha Tiger`.

The actress was shooting in London for her new film with Shah Rukh Khan, which is being directed by Yash Chopra. After the film`s schedule wrapped up, she decided to stay back to spend time with her family.

"The location was quite far from where she lives and since she didn`t want to disrupt the shooting schedule, she was living in the hotel the crew had put her up in. Only once the schedule had wrapped up, she decided to spend some time with family," said a source.

However, she cut it short and flew back to Mumbai to be with her "Ek Tha Tiger" team, including lead actor Salman Khan, for "Mashallah" song launch.

"It was quite sweet of Katrina to be so accommodating. Mashallah is picturised on Katrina and Salman and also created a lot of wave," said source added.

The film releases Aug 15.

Actress Katrina Kaif left no stone unturned, as she took lessons on belly-dancing for a song from her upcoming film Ek Tha Tiger.

Katrina learnt a new dance form of belly dancing for the song Masha Allah in Kabir Khan’s forthcoming film Ek Tha Tiger, in which, she will be seen opposite ex-beau Salman Khan.

After hit item numbers like Sheila Ki Jawani and Chikni Chameli, Katrina is back with a sensuous number in Ek Tha Tiger.

According to sources, the song -- Masha Allah is the integral part of the film, in which, Salman praises Katrina as he feels that she is extremely beautiful.

When the song was discussed, Katrina was shooting on the borders of Turkey and Iraq and that is when she decided to learn the belly dance. She also gave inputs about the way she was to be presented in the number.

Karachi: Rumours that Bollywood celebs Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan are going to be performing at the Lux Style Awards (LSA) due to be held in Karachi on Tuesday evening were quashed by an official spokesperson for the brand.

“I categorically deny these rumours,” Fareshtay Aslam, the head of the corporate affairs Unilever and the organiser of LSA, told The Express Tribune. She added with bewilderment, “have you seen the security situation in the country. Is anyone going to perform here?”

Ileana D'Cruz replaced Katrina Kaif in Barfi!

Mumbai: Katrina Kaif is almost every director's first choice for their films. Same was the case with director Anurag Basu while making Barfi. Reportedly, Kat was supposed to feature as one of the three leads in Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra starer.

Apparently, Katrina was the first option in Anurag's mind for playing the role of Shruti, which is now essayed by southern actress Ileana D'Cruz. Basu in an interview said, "Maybe this role was in Ileana's destiny, and she got it. She was an instinctive choice after Katrina, for this role."

Barfi is one of the much anticipated films of this year. The first promo was officially launched last Monday. Ranbir plays a deaf-mute character named Murphy and PeeCee will be seen as a mentally challenged girl Jhilmil in the film. The promos have heaped up loads of appraisals from all around, with over 3,50,000 views in a day. Ranbir no doubt steals the show in the trailer and this performance will create a wider gap between him and other contemporary actors. He has been urging people not to co-relate the film subject with the physical disability he has as a character in the movie.

The movie will be in theatres on September 14.

‘Dhoom 3 ‘ is becoming interesting with every passing week. While it seemed that coming together of Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff years after ‘Rangeela‘ would be something to rejoice for the audience, there was one important aspect that was probably ignored. BOllywood Actor Katrina Kaif is playing a dance teacher in her upcoming film Ek Tha Tiger opposite Salman Khan.


Katrina's character Zoya is a ballet dancer, who not only takes lessons in the dance form but also teaches it to her fellow students. The film's crew has shot some of the sequences in London's Trinity University that is known for its contribution in arts and music.

Katrina's friend rubbishes the story

"This is completely untrue. Salman and Katrina chose to work in the same film because there was no animosity between them. They got along famously during the Dublin and the Istanbul schedules. Salman cares for Katrina a lot. She is like family," a friend told Mumbai Mirror.

"People make up a lot of stories. Only because they couldn't keep up to their commitment of making an appearance at an awards function, rumours started flying," she added.

"How did the magazine know what happened inside Katrina's vanity when she had locked it? Kareena visiting her friend Salman doesn't necessarily have to be instigated by a phone call from his co-star," the friend told the tabloid.

"Kat has many projects lined up. She doesn't have time for silly rumours generated by the media. In fact she had to turn down Karan Johar's offer of Dostana 2 because she couldn't adjust her dates," the friend further added.
