Katrina Kaif is the hero in 'Rajneeti 2'

The sequel to Prakash Jha's 2010 blockbuster Rajneeti is happening and this time around, Katrina Kaif will take centre-stage as the queen sized politician. Part two will chronicle her rise to power and her subsequent descent to a megalomaniac whose self-serving politics ultimately destroy her.

However, those hoping to see Ranbir-Katrina coming together again in the sequel are in for a disappointment. It is learnt Ranbir has opted out, apparently because he wasn't too kicked about playing side-kick to Katrina in what would be predominantly her film.

Prakash Jha confirmed the development and added, "It is very challenging to take the Raajneeti story forward. Most of the main characters are dead. Two-thirds of the characters will be completely new. Katrina will have a central role. And though Ranbir's character didn't die at the end of Rajneeti, he won't be part of Rajneeti 2. Again, I will be doing a spin on the Mahabharat, though this time, it will be completely different."

It’s time you get married: Katrina to Salman

It’s the million dollar question, one that we’ve speculated over several times — concerning Salman Khan’s marriage plans. However, not many have been able to question the superstar about it.

But now, Katrina Kaif has managed to do the unthinkable — grill Salman about his marriage, if  only on the silver screen. An insider from Yash Raj Films, who has seen the first trailer of Ek Tha Tiger (the film sees Salman and Katrina acting together) informs that there is a “very tongue-in-cheek” sequence about his marriage.

“It’s a sweet and heart-warming sequence. And the way it (the trailer) has been cut, audiences will love Katrina’s direct question to Salman. What you will see in the trailer is Kat’s character (Zoya) asking Bhai (Tiger) if he is married. Later, she goes on to suggest that “it’s time you get married”. We are sure it will generate a lot of interest among audiences,” says the insider.

Salman and Katrina, who have shared screen space in films like Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005), Partner (2007) and Yuvvraj (2008), were last seen together in the special title song of Salman’s 2011 blockbuster, Bodyguard. “If you go into details, it’s Bhai and Katrina’s only romantic film featuring them as a lead pair,” says the insider.

And Salman has always maintained that Katrina and he share a good working equation. “Yes, she is very comfortable with me and my entire family. In fact, she is a part of the family. We have known her for the longest time now,” Salman told us earlier when Bodyguard released. As for Ek Tha Tiger, all we know so far is that Salman plays a RAW agent, while Katrina is a Trinity Music College student and choreographer. The trailer is likely to hit theatres on June 29. The film, directed by Kabir Khan (he has made New York in 2009 and Kabul Express in 2006) is scheduled to release on August 15. Katrina Kaif's makeover for Yash Chopra's film

Mumbai: Working with Yash Chopra guarantees one thing for sure — that a lot of time and effort will be spent to make the female lead look like the 'perfect actress'. And that's exactly what has been spelt out for Katrina Kaif, the latest actress to work with the production house.

Apparently, designer Manish Malhotra had been given the task to make Kat look like the quintessential Yash Chopra heroine, in the film opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Our source says, "Manish had been asked to dress her in a manner in which she looks glamorous, yet Indian."

Our source also adds that due to the specific requirements around Kat's look, Manish had to spend several hours researching for it. According to our source, he had to watch all of Yash Chopra's films to decide on the final look. The source adds, "Yash Chopra and Katrina were both impressed with the clothes that were finalised."

Bollywood Actors Akshay and Katrina keen to work together

Bollywood Actors Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif may not have done any movie together for almost two years now, but insiders reveal that the two are really keen to work with each other again. “They both have been rather busy with their respective films, but the two still keep in touch whenever they can,” says a source. In fact, sources close to the actors reveal that Katrina was apparently one of the first ones from the industry to call up and wish him and wife Twinkle for her second pregnancy.

Adds the source, “It’s been a while that the two have been paired up on screen, but it’s purely a date hassle for both. Katrina is right now busy with her films with the Khans — Ek Tha Tiger with Salman, Dhoom 3 with Aamir and Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum with Shah Rukh — and Akshay too is busy with almost six films in hand (Khiladi 786, OMG, Once UponA Time in Mumbaai 2, Special Chhabis, Boss, among others), but both are are still looking forward to doing a film with each other soon.

Kat’s always been super lucky for Akshay, and their jodi apart from the SRK-Kajol pairing has given the maximum hits together in recent times. So, it’s only a matter of time for them to pair up again.”

Meanwhile, Katrina too is all praises for her former co-star. “I love working with Akshay, as I really think that he’s simply fantastic at whatever he does. We’ve done some great films together and it’s always fun working with him,” says the actor, who’s currently shooting for the Yash Chopra film with SRK, and also prepping for her role in Dhoom 3. According to a source, Katrina has had to turn down several plum offers off late, as her dates are blocked for more than a year. “She has been the first choice of many filmmakers, but she’s had to turn them down because of her choc-a-bloc schedule. In fact, she’s even had to turn down offers that she would have loved to take up otherwise,” says the source close to the actor.

The actor who’s following a rather strict diet and exercise regime is apparently being helped by Salman. “Salman has been giving Katrina tips on fitness ever since she started work with him on Ek Tha Tiger. But now, apparently, even Aamir and Salman are sharing tips with each other. Aamir is known to be quite a perfectionist, so he is taking extreme care about his own diet,” says an insider.

Neeru Bajwa titled 'Katrina Kaif of Punjab'!

Neeru Bajwa may not be signing any Bollywood film at the moment but that hasn't stopped strange accolades coming her way from the Hindi film industry. Having given two hits in Punjabi films, Mel Karade Rabba, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, Neeru is fast becoming the hot contender for the number one slot in Punjabi films. And as she is getting there, she is finding parallels with Katrina Kaif!

Recently titled the 'Katrina Kaif of Punjabi films', Neeru remains unfazed by the comparisons as she believes in remaining steadfast on her course.

"I am getting such good offers from Punjabi films that I am unable to take on any Hindi film as of now," says Neeru who is eagerly awaiting the release of her upcoming Jatt & Juliet, hyped as the first romcom in Punjabi, opposite Diljit Dosanjh. However, for all those speculating Jatt & Juliet to be a regional take off from Hum Tum, Neeru denies it outright. "This film is definitely going to herald a new genre in Punjabi films, that of romantic comedies, but it is just not a Punjabi remake of Hum Tum, as some people are saying," adds Neeru.

Neeru has another important reason for sticking around in Punjabi films as of now. After long, she says, a character centric film has been offered to her.

"In this film, Jatt & Juliet I have something substantial to do than just standing around showing my cleavage!" she laughs, "So far, all films I've done, including Punjabi, have offered me nothing to do. In fact, why just me, most Punjabi films so far had little to do for its actresses, they had been rather male centric...though the trend is changing now."

If this region's industry has lacked any ingredient thus far, it has been the fun in films, vies Neeru. "We would want Punjabi films to also be fun filled, light and entertaining...like Bollywood. Enough of heavy, serious subjects like separation from homeland, NRI issues and drugs etc," she says.

Next on, Neeru is excited to act again with Diljit in their untitled film, which earlier had the working title Jatt Romantic and is based on weddings. Also, she is awaiting the release of Pinky Moge Wali opposite Gavie Chahal.

For those trying to smell something steamy, let us tell you the scene was shot outdoors and not indoors. Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif are in a lane in London, and the romantic scene features SRK getting close to Kat, while she resists.

These kind of scenes are typical of Shahrukh Khan starrers; the actor has done similar scene with Madhuri Dixit in Dil Toh Pagal Hai, and also with Kajol in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. This time it’s Katrina Kaif’s turn.
